“ Amazing hometown atmosphere. Everyone remembers your name and your favorite order. The food is tastes homemade. ”
“ A very friendly family resturant, where every one knows you... I recommend this resturant to all my friends. DWN... ”
“ The train theme is cool and there is a train track with a model train on it, hanging from the ceiling. I'm not sure if it currently works, but it did look cool. I ordered the Machaca breakfast plate with flour tortillas. If you've never had Machaca, it's tender shredded beef sautéed with peppers, onions, and mixed with eggs. Then you take that delicious mixture put it in a tortilla and enjoy! I had mine made with egg whites this time around and it was delicious. I really enjoyed the Serano peppers they used instead of bell peppers. If Serrano peppers are too hot for you can ask them to sub for bell peppers or just remove them all together. This plate came with a side of potatoes that were good, but a little on the salty side. I tried my wife's biscuits and gravy, and it was flavorless for me, but with a little S&P my wife enjoyed. Our server (Nellie?) was awesome! She was a super attentive and checked on us regularly. Making sure our waters and coffee were always full. The vibe here is OK, but it is a little red if you catch my drift. I'm not really a fan of eating breakfast while Fox News is blasting in the background. This won't affect my review rating, but if I can offer suggestion, leave the TVs on and the volume off. Maybe play some music instead of the news commentary? Just a thought. ”
“ Make the drive, meet Richard, Theresa and/or Pam, and get yourself an excellent breakfast, lunch or dinner! I have been eating at this establishment in both locations for about 30 years. The food is always excellent, the service is always fabulous, and the prices are always reasonable. The family that owns this restaurant is also top shelf. They used to have a beautiful patio area until one of the neighbors complained. However, the restaurant itself with the train on the track makes experience fun! I would give it more than five stars if I could. ”
“ I usually come here on Sundays and always enjoy their food. Love the "Warm Welcome" as well. If you do not want to wait and you are with maybe one other, highly suggest the bar area. (a nice size t.v. is there if you enjoy that). Highly recommend for you to try breakfast, lunch, and dinner. If you have a big party, no worries. They will accommodate. ”
“ Maggie loves cafes so I found Red Caboose Cafe to try after a day exploring Kings Canyon National Park. It was hot outside but inside the AC was working well. I was really impressed by the decor. Hanging from the ceiling were train tracks. Nice waitress asked if we wanted to watch the trains run? We did. When I was a kid one year I got a train set and I ran the train around our Christmas tree. We enjoyed watching the trains while waiting for our food. Dinner roll was fluffy and I liked the mild flavor. Beef barley soup featured tender flavorful beef. I rarely eat beef barley soup but this one was delicious and I would order it again. Onion rings had a crunchy batter and had lots of onion flavor. Standard fast food type onion ring. Honey fried chicken featured crunchy batter with honey drizzled on top. Chicken was tender and juicy. Loved the salty and sweet flavors. One of my favorite fried chicken dishes. Service was great from the friendly and efficient staff. I'm looking forward to more delicious fried chicken and beef barley soup on our next trip to Kings Canyon. Hope the trains will be running again. Red Caboose Cafe is one of the coolest cafes I've ever visited. ”
“ The place is a nice, above average breakfast spot located way out toward Sanger in Clovis. It's decorated with a bunch of cheesy patriotic type stuff, but it's nice enough. The food was great. I had a nice sized sausage omelette which came with country potatoes and I got the biscuits and gravy, which was a bit bland. The service was good even though the place was pretty packed. If I'm out there again, I'd go back. ”
“ The wait was reasonable especially considering it was Father's Day. The service was top tier... our drinks barely went down before they were filled again. The food was really good. The black angus chicken fried steak was so much better than the traditional country fried steak. Would definitely return again. The restaurant is decorated so cutely and had a train running around. Train decor throughout. Very clean restaurant. ”
“ Had lunch here while working in the area as it was recommended by the locals. We really appreciated that they served beer since most diners don't, even if it wasn't particularly well priced. Not that it was expensive per se, it was just as expensive as any hipster bar, but lacked any atmosphere. The food was decent and the prices were just ok. The service was great though. Overall, it did its job providing sustenance, but at over $60 after tip for lunch for 2, it won't be a place I'll return any time soon. Again, average food that did its job, just not really worth the splurge of that cost ($60 is 3 hours of a fast food worker's life and nearly 4 hours of a minimum wage worker's life). If the food was higher quality or the prices were lower, it would easily be a place to go back to. ”
